EloCheé Trashion was a seasonal pop-up shop and working studio at REFFEN, open from April to September in 2019 and 2020.
Leftover fabrics and garments from EloCheé were reworked into new pieces under the label ECS by EloCheé, while the space also became a setting for workshops and experimentation with repair, print, illustration and airbrush.
Rather than treating leftover materials as waste, the project used their existing qualities and limitations as starting points for new expressions. EloCheé Trashion marked the final phase of EloCheé, but it also became an early foundation for methods I continue to develop today: transforming existing materials through hands-on and participatory design processes.
This short film was created to introduce a participatory workshop at EloCheé Trashion.
Visitors to REFFEN were invited into a collaborative design process led by me together with an airbrush artist. Using T-shirts available from the pop-up shop, participants could help shape their own design through print, composition and freehand airbrush techniques.
The workshop opened up the process behind the finished product, allowing visitors to take part in its transformation rather than simply purchasing it.
